Implants are the GOLD standard for replacing missing teeth. Too many times, dentists that are not familiar with placing or restoring implants, will recommend procedures such as crown lengthening, root canals, crown buildups, and others which only fail after a year or two. Dentists should be able to offer the best long term solution for their patients.
Implant surgery is a very simple procedure. With the same anesthetic that is used to do a filling, the dentist uses small drilling bits to place the implant into the bone. This sounds painful, but it is less traumatic then a root canal or an extraction. It usually takes less then 20 minutes to place an implant. After placement, an xray is taken to make sure all looks good and then three to four months later the implant fuses with the bone and is ready for an abutment and crown.
If an implant that we place fails within two years of placement. We will place a new one at no charge to the patient or just refund the money paid by the patient back to them. Implants have a success rate of 98% in our office.
